Introduction

FluoSolv® 7200 is an identical replacement to Novec 3M 7200. It is an ethoxy-nonafluorobutane (C4F9OC2H5), is a clear, colorless and low-odor fluid intended to replace ozone-depleting substances (ODSs), compounds with high global warming potential (GWP) and chlorinated materials in many applications. Its physical properties are compared with several other ODS replacement fluid candidates.

FluoSolv® 7200 fluid has a higher boiling point than most CFCs, HCFCs and HFCs, reducing evaporative losses. The low surface tension and low viscosity of FluoSolv® 7200 fluid make it ideal for use in vapor degreasing and cold cleaning applications. In addition, its chemical and thermal stability, non flammability and low toxicity make it useful for other industrial applications such as specialty solvent and heat transfer applications.

Applications

  • Identical replacement to Novec 7200
  • Cold cleaner (flex circuits, wipe solvent)
  • Cleaning and rinsing agent for vapor degreasing.
  • Light-duty cleaning (neat)-particulates, fluorolubes, light oils, fluoropolymers.
  • Lubricant carrier, fluorocarbons, hydrocarbons, silicones.
  • Specialty solvents, dispersion medium, reaction medium, extraction solvent.
  • Spray contact cleaner.
  • CFC, HCFC, HFC and PFC replacement
  • Heat Transfer Fluid

Material Compatibility

FluoSolv® 7200 is compatible with all metals, ceramic and other non-conducting materials. Most elastomeric materials are compatible except fluoroelastomers such as Viton & Kalrez which tend to swell. It is recommended that all materials be tested prior to use.

  Compatible
Metals Aluminum, Copper, S/S Titanium, BCASss, Tungsten
Elastomers Neoprene, Butyl Rubber, EPDM, Kynar (PVDF)
Plastics HDPE, PTFE, Nylon, PVC Epoxy, Phenolic

Additional testing required for plastics such as ABS, Acrylic, Polycarbonate and fluoroelastomers (Viton A & B & others)
